PRINCETON, Texas — On Tuesday night at a cowboy church in Princeton, neighbors won’t be gathering to worship — they’ll be gathering to worry.

A potentially fiery town hall is set to unfold as the unincorporated community of Branch, tucked along Lake Lavon six miles south of Princeton, wrestles with a fast-approaching deadline: come Oct. 1, their fire protection could vanish.
