Highland Park is in mourning after two of its young residents, second-graders Lila Bonner and Eloise Peck, were confirmed killed in the Camp Mystic floods. The best friends attended Camp Mystic in Kerr County when the Guadalupe River surged more than 26 feet in under an hour on July 4, sweeping away cabins and boarding structures.
Both girls had just completed second grade at Bradfield Elementary and were beloved members of the Highland Park community — even classmates at Highland Park schools.
Their school and church communities are honoring their memory with green ribbons, the camp’s color, tied to trees and displayed in yards and public sites as a sign of solidarity and grief…
