The Allen ISD Board of Trustees approved changes to its student cell phone policy July 21 to comply with House Bill 1481, which requires districts to restrict personal communication devices during school hours.
Director of Student Services Jessica Warlick said the changes represent “an entirely new policy” with only two sentences remaining from the previous version.
The new policy states students cannot use personal communication devices during school hours, defined as from building entry until dismissal.
