Federal investigators release preliminary findings in DART train fire

Federal investigators say last month’s DART train fire in downtown Dallas was caused by a loose overhead wire that struck the train and sparked an electrical arc lasting more than 10 minutes.

The July 30 fire on an Orange Line train injured 11 passengers, three of whom were hospitalized, and disrupted rail service through downtown for nearly a week.
