Venezuelan fugitive arrested in north Texas for violent Russian roulette-style attack on a woman

DALLAS, Texas — A Venezuelan fugitive accused of a violent Russian roulette-style attack on a woman has been arrested in Texas, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Raul Enrique Pargas Rodriquez, a 31-year-old from Venezuela, was taken into custody on August 14.

Pargas is wanted for attempted aggravated femicide after allegedly attacking a woman in his workshop on February 24, 2021. According to the warrant, he insulted, attacked, and hit her before pointing a black pistol at her head in a twisted version of Russian roulette. The victim managed to escape, and Pargas fled to the United States, entering illegally near Eagle Pass, Texas, on August 10, 2022.

He was initially apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol and released on his own recognizance pending immigration proceedings. ICE encountered Pargas again on November 28, 2023, at the Dallas County Jail following an arrest for assault, but he was not taken into custody due to prosecutorial discretion…
