Denton filed a plea to the jurisdiction after a petition was filed against the city and its community shelter, Our Daily Bread. The petition alleged that the shelter has a history of negligence, not providing medical or religious accommodations and retaliation.
The petition was submitted by 38-year- old Denton resident Adam Horwitz, who has been staying at the shelter since September 2024.
