Despite promise to stay open, brewery location backed by prominent Dallas athletes to close

In this economy, even a celebrity-backed brewery can get priced out by rising rent costs.

According to the Dallas Business Journal, the Celina location of Rollertown Beerworks at 412 N. Oklahoma St. in will close its doors on Oct. 11. The popular brewery is backed by local sports stars like former Dallas Maverick Dirk Nowitzki, Texas Ranger Michael Young, Dallas Cowboy Travis Frederick, Minnesota Twin Torii Hunter and Texas A&M viral comedy group Dude Perfect.

A new location of Rollertown Beerworks opening in Frisco has been part of the plan, but the company previously said that it would keep the Celina location open. However, that changed on Sept. 27 when they posted on Instagram, “…Our story started here, and for that we are grateful. With the significant rise in costs over the past several years, and with our rent here in Celina doubling this past January, it has simply become too costly to continue operating our original taproom. We wish this weren’t the case, but it simply isn’t feasible. The Celina Taproom’s final day will be Saturday, October 11, during the City’s Oktoberfest celebration. Until then, we’ll continue welcoming folks at the original taproom every Friday through Sunday. We are deeply grateful for the memories and support our guests have shared with us here, and we look forward to raising a glass with you at our big, new venue soon.”
