During Denton’s archeology fair, children dug into the sand, uncovering arrowheads and other artifacts to celebrate the science of archaeology.
In celebration of October as Texas Archeology Month, the Denton County Historical Commission hosted the “Denton Dig It! Archeology Fair” on Nov. 1 at Denton County Historical Park.
“Archeology as a community develops and grows like Denton is right now,” said Melody Kohout, Denton County Historical Commission chair and Denton resident. “Archaeology becomes more and more important because of what is underneath the ground. There are unknown burials, abandoned wells [and] abandoned communities that we need to rediscover and get documented for historic purposes.”…
