It’s also in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Dallas. I should know, because it’s the one I landed in right out of college decades ago. I loved living in Lakewood Heights.
This home is a couple of blocks from the fabulous 9-acre Tietze Park, within easy walking distance to Lower Greenville and the Lakewood Shopping Center, and it’s only a short bike ride to White Rock Lake.
The Lakewood Heights neighborhood was developed in 1914 for soldiers returning home from WWI. Filled with Craftsman and Tudor-style homes, it was instantly successful with 300 of the 400 planned lots reserved in what was called a tag day. It was so successful that the developers immediately opened the second section, with 200 additional lots.
There are now about 1,150 homes here, a mix of originals and new construction. Despite the growth over the years, the neighborhood still retains that eclectic feeling that drew me so many years ago.
This original Lakewood Heights Craftsman has 1,623 square feet, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. There’s a lovely sunroom at the front of the house that is perfect for a home office or a mahjong room. You can also use it as a playroom, so all those toys are contained!…
