Military medals to be reunited with family members in ceremony at Frisco Commons Park

Operation Purple Heart of Texas will hold its inaugural ceremony on Nov. 29 at Frisco Commons Park, as military awards will be returned to descendants of the service members who earned them.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. at the park’s Texas Purple Heart Monument, located at 8000 McKinney Road.

A Posthumous Purple Heart will be awarded to Seaman 1st Class Marron Jerome Ward Jr., who was killed in action aboard USS Wasp (CV‑18) during the Battle of Iwo Jima on March 19, 1945. The award will be presented to his nephew, John Hrisco of Dallas…
