North Dallas is getting a fresh taste of Chicago comfort food. Portillo’s, the Chicago-born chain known for Italian beef and loaded hot dogs, is setting up shop in Frisco, where crews are already raising its garage-themed building near FM 423 and Gordon Heights Lane. The new standalone restaurant will be roughly 6,250 square feet, and construction was projected to wrap by early January, according to leasing paperwork reviewed by local outlets. Once the doors open, Frisco residents will have a much shorter drive for Italian beef, Chicago-style hot dogs and those chocolate cake shakes that have a bit of a cult following.
According to WhatNow, the Frisco location is slated for the northwest corner of FM 423 and Gordon Heights Lane. The outlet also notes that Portillo’s already has a foothold in North Texas, with several DFW locations in Grand Prairie, Grapevine, The Colony, Arlington and Mansfield.
