East Texas investigators name key suspect in mail theft investigation

POLK COUNTY, Texas — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a string of mail thefts in the county and have identified a main suspect.

According to Chief Deputy Andy Lowrie, a warrant for mail theft has been issued for Cory “Eric” Ledwell, 38, of Polk County, who is believed to be in the Plano area. The investigation also linked other Polk County residents and Ledwell’s ex-wife to several mail thefts occurring on FM 350 North, FM 3152, Indian Hills, Forest Hills, Alabama Point, Castlewood, and FM 942 East and West.

In July 2025, Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) began receiving reports of mail theft, but at the time many residents chose not to pursue charges or request formal reports. In November, reports of mail theft increased significantly, with more valuable items targeted nearing the holiday season…
