A tragic start to the New Year unfolded in North Dallas, where a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle, with the driver now facing serious charges. According to a WFAA report, the incident occurred late on New Year’s Day in the 10500 block of Stone Canyon Road, near Riverbrook Drive.
The vehicle hit a pedestrian around 11:15 p.m. last Thursday, and the victim was quickly taken to a local hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue, tragically succumbing to their injuries later on. The driver, having apparently failed a field sobriety test, was arrested on an intoxication manslaughter charge. The Dallas Police Department disclosed that this investigation is still very much ongoing.
Residents of the normally tranquil street were left to confront the jarring scene outside their homes. “It makes you angry because it’s such an avoidable situation, and it’s just so selfish to do that,” Quentin Mendoza expressed, per WFAA.
