Lewisville ISD extends school day, swaps middle and high school start times

The Lewisville Independent School District Board of Trustees approved changes to school schedules for the 2026-27 academic year that will add 10 minutes to the instructional day and swap start times for middle and high school students.

The board voted Monday to extend the student instructional day from 435 minutes to 445 minutes, bringing the district more in line with neighboring school systems. The change will affect all campuses beginning next fall.

In addition to the longer school day, middle school and high school start times will switch positions in the daily schedule. High schools will now start at 8:50 a.m. and dismiss at 4:15 p.m., while middle schools will begin at 8:15 a.m. and end at 3:40 p.m. Elementary schools will run from 7:40 a.m. to 3:05 p.m…
