Top tennis stars drop by North Texas barbecue spot while visiting for tournament

From those YouTube videos to any number of Business Insider diary entries, people really want to talk about their first experience eating Texas barbecue. (Look, we’ve done it, too.)

So now let’s turn our attention to a couple of European tennis professionals, who upon visiting Texas for the Nexo Dallas Open finally snagged their first tray of smoked meat. 2014 US Open men’s champion and Croatian native Marin Cilic and up-and-coming Frenchman Terence Atmane visited Hutchins Barbeque in Frisco recently, and apparently, they got a full tour.

“It was a fantastic experience,” Cilic told ATPTour.com, which chronicled the duo’s exploits in barbecue land. Cilic, by the way, is 61st in the world via ATP and in the Round of 16 at the Dallas Open as of this writing, while Atmane got eliminated in the first round against American Frances Tiafoe. “Coming for the first time in Texas definitely makes it even more special. And then seeing the process of how the meat is prepared and how much care is taken about the food and all the preparation, it was absolutely worth it.”…
