Paramount+ has announced that TV titan Taylor Sheridan’s Samuel L. Jackson-led Tulsa King spinoff, NOLA King, is shifting to Frisco, Texas—a massive shakeup (and identity crisis) that will see the Yellowstone creator clear his busy schedule to pen all eight episodes of the first season.
Dave Erickson, who was the showrunner for Tulsa King’s third season, was originally set to also serve as the showrunner for NOLA King but stepped away due to “scheduling conflicts.” The schedule change prompted Sheridan to take on a more hands-on role and write all eight episodes for the upcoming series. Production on the newly named Frisco King is set to begin in late March in Fort Worth.
Sheridan has carved out massive real estate in the Texas film industry, famously pushing for increased state-funded incentive benefits and bringing several of his streaming shows (including Landman) to the Lone Star State. He’s a busy creator with so many shows in production that it can often be daunting to keep up with his cinematic universe, especially with his transition from streamer Paramount to NBCUniversal on the horizon…
