Hoochies Stages Big Denton Square Comeback With New Bar And Menu Twist

Hoochies, the seafood spot on Denton Square, is set to reopen on March 31, after a months-long renovation, owner Amy Hawkins said. The downtown mainstay shut its doors in mid-November for the overhaul and will host a soft opening ahead of a late-March grand reopening.

As reported by Community Impact, the revamp brings fresh flooring, new seating, a full bar and additional dining space. Hawkins told the outlet the goal is to modernize the space without losing the restaurant’s laid-back, seafood-forward vibe.

Menu tweaks aim to widen the appeal

To make the place friendlier for non-seafood fans, the kitchen is adding chicken strips and a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. In a statement to Community Impact, Hawkins said, “In a family of four, there’s usually one person who doesn’t like seafood. We were missing that element.” She also told the outlet the restaurant closed for renovations on Nov. 17 and will hold a soft opening before the grand reopening.
