A semi-truck carrying 40,000 pounds of donated food is headed to Plano next week, part of a nationwide effort to mark America’s 250th birthday with acts of service rather than celebration alone.
Minnie’s Food Pantry, located at 661 18th St. in Plano, will receive the shipment Wednesday, March 25, through a collaboration between America250 — the federal commission overseeing the country’s semiquincentennial — and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The delivery is one of 250 truckloads being distributed to communities across all 50 states, with the full effort expected to provide approximately 10 million meals to families in need.
