City of Rowlett suspends fire chief recruitment process amid sparring with Rowlett Firefighters Association

ROWLETT, Texas — The city of Rowlett has suspended its fire chief recruitment process after it says the four finalists had withdrawn following direct intervention from the Rowlett Fire Association, a letter from the city stated.

In the letter sent Friday, the city accused the association of spreading misinformation about the hiring process and voicing their opposition directly to each of the candidates.

The association first raised the issue in a letter posted to its Facebook page on Wednesday, where the association president, Josh Brock, said the city’s reasons for passing over Ensley didn’t hold water.
