There are certain milestones that signal a North Texas city is growing fast. In Celina, one of those moments arrived this week with the opening of the city’s first Walmart Supercenter.
The new store opened on April 29 at the corner of Preston Road and the Collin County Outer Loop, becoming the first major piece of the larger Shawnee Trail development to open to the public.
For a city that has spent the last several years adding neighborhoods almost as quickly as roads can keep up, the arrival of a full-scale Walmart is another marker of how quickly Celina is changing.
