TAMIU Falls Twice Despite Fast Start in Game 2

Denton, Texas — Texas A&M International dropped both ends of a Lone Star Conference softball doubleheader at Texas Woman’s on Saturday, falling 3-0 in Game 1 and 8-3 in Game 2 at Dianne Baker Field.

Game 1: TWU 3, TAMIU 0

TAMIU was held to just one hit as Texas Woman’s pitcher Randi Crawford tossed a complete-game shutout with 13 strikeouts.

The Pioneers struck early, scoring twice in the first inning behind an inside-the-park home run from Marissa Espinoza and capitalizing on a Dustdevils error to make it 2-0. TWU added an insurance run in the sixth to seal the 3-0 decision.

Kennedy Griego accounted for TAMIU’s lone hit with a double, while the Dustdevils drew just two walks and struck out 13 times as a team…
