Plans for new brunch and coffee chains brewing in southwest Gainesville

Two national restaurant chains — one specializing in breakfast and brunch, and the other in coffee — have plans to open in southwest Gainesville.

Another Broken Egg Cafe

Founded outside of New Orleans in 1996, Another Broken Egg Cafe is slated to open in the former World of Beer location in the University Town Center, 3265 SW 34th St.

According to Jason Hurst, with commercial real estate firm Colliers, who handled the lease transaction with Damaris Arroyo on behalf of the landlord, the restaurant is expected to open in the 5,200-square-foot space in the third quarter of this year.

Scott Giles, of Atlantic Retail, represented Another Broken Egg Cafe in the transaction.

Now based in Orlando, the Southern-inspired breakfast, brunch and lunch spot has 19 locations in operation in Florida, including in Destin, Jacksonville, The Villages, Boca Raton and Clearwater.

Its menu features an array of breakfast and brunch classics, such as Chicken & Waffles, Shrimp ‘N Grits, Classic French Toast, Huevos Rancheros and Biscuit & Gravy. The Mardi Gras Omelette comes filled with Louisiana crawfish, Gulf shrimp, andouille sausage and red peppers, and is topped with a tomato hollandaise sauce, tomatoes and green onions.
