Popular Florida Italian Restaurant With Previous Temporary Shut Downs By State Inspection Has Closed

I often write about state inspections for Florida’s restaurants. Sometimes, a restaurant with no history of previous issues will have a bad day, get hit with violations, but will fix the issues immediately and have no violations upon reinspection.

Other times, restaurants struggle with violations over and over so that they’re repeatedly closed and cited.

Unfortunately, one such popular Italian restaurant in Florida has closed its doors.

About Tony and Al’s: I could find no current website for this restaurant, but its Yelp presence establishes that it was a popular Italian restaurant that featured live music, popular pizza options, and friendly service.

Yelpers in Alachua give it 4.3 out of 5 stars, with more than one reviewer saying it offered some of the best pizza they’d ever eaten.

A reviewer named Lori wrote:

“This place has the best pizza I’ve ever eaten! They make their own dough for the crust, and the very fresh ingredients, sauce, and cheese are amazing! Very friendly staff and locals…”
