Cuscowilla Nature and Retreat Center is opening registration for its summer camp on March 1, 2024. This year’s theme is ‘Summer Adventure.’ The camp runs from June 10 to July 26, offering day camps from Monday to Friday. It is open to children aged 7 to 12, with activities like archery, swimming, outdoor skills, arts and crafts, and kayaking.

Specialty camps are available for children aged 10 to 14. These include the Fish Camp from June 10 to June 14, and Teen Week from July 29 to August 2. The Fish Camp will teach campers about fishing at George’s Pond. Teen Week offers a choice of activities based on the camper’s interests.

Weekly field trips to locations in Alachua County are part of the program. These include visits to the Santa Fe Zoo, the Alachua County Sports Complex, Poe Springs, and the Cade Museum. Camp Manager Jamie Bass has partnered with educational institutions to enhance the camp experience.

The weekly rate for the day camps is $150, and specialty camps cost $175. These fees cover meals and daily bus transportation to and from Lincoln Middle School in Gainesville. Campers can also be dropped off and picked up at the camp in Micanopy. Scholarships are available from the Alachua County Children’s Trust and the Friends of Cuscowilla.
