Local favorite Mi Apá Latin Café has plans for fifth location. Here’s what we know.

Mi Apá Latin Café, which first opened on Southwest 34th Street in Gainesville in June 2003 and has since grown to four locations in Alachua County, has plans for a fifth restaurant.

Here’s what we know:

Where will the new restaurant be located?

Owner Peter Yñigo confirmed Monday that Mi Apa is planning a location in The Oaks Mall food court at 6419 W. Newberry Road.

Yñigo said he’s thought about entering the mall in the past, and that he’s happy to be able to offer a new dining option for those at the UF Health practices in the mall as well as those across the street at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital.

“We got approached asking us if we wanted to be there, and they really made it inviting for us to come to the mall.” Yñigo said of the decision.

What’s on the menu?

Yñigo said the menu for The Oaks Mall location will mimic that of the restaurant’s Reitz Union location on the University of Florida campus, and will consist of bowls, sandwiches, appetizers, natural juices and its full selection of coffee drinks.
