Rece Davis Reveals The ‘Only’ Choice For Interim Head Coach At Florida

ESPN college football analyst Rece Davis recently weighed in on the current state of the Florida Gators, given their head coaching struggles and 1-2 start to the season.

Davis explained that Billy Napier likely won’t “figure it out” with the Gators in his third season as the head coach. He doesn’t think Florida should fire Napier, but he has a plan for the Gators if they choose to do so.

“Let Billy finish the season and then do what you need to do, but if you go down the interim road, there’s only one choice,” Davis said. ” He’s sitting right there, to my knowledge, a resident now, perhaps, of the great state of Florida. He will come from his palatial surroundings in the greater Destin area and get on I-10 and drive in there, smash about 12 Red Bulls, hit the can on his forehead. And the (Ed Orgeron) era will have started in Gainesville.”

While he added that he doesn’t believe in interim head coaches at the collegiate level, Davis explained that Orgeron is the “only choice” for the Gators if they were to go down that road.
