Man arrested for taking video of neighbor changing clothes

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gustavo Alejandro Zamara-Vazquez, 24, was arrested yesterday and charged with digital voyeurism after allegedly taking video of a neighbor through her window while she was changing clothes.

At about 10:06 p.m. on September 22, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call about a prowler at Cottage Grove Apartments and spoke to Zamara-Vazquez, who was reportedly standing behind the victim’s building but walked away toward the porch of his nearby apartment. The deputy noted that Zamara-Vazquez was sweating profusely, despite relatively cool evening temperatures. The deputy reportedly found two shoe prints outside the window that appeared to match Zamara-Vazquez’s Croc-style shoes.

The victim reportedly said that when she took off her clothes, she looked toward the window and saw an arm holding a phone. She described the sleeve of the shirt worn by the person holding the phone, and when the deputy told Zamara-Vazquez that they had shoe prints and a witness who saw a shirt like his, he reportedly said he was “going to be honest” and that he had tried to film her.
