Florida Wendy’s Closed After Failing State Inspection

Fast food fans in Gainesville were in for a surprise when a local Wendy’s, located at 6700 Newberry Road, was temporarily shut down following a state inspection. While Florida offers no shortage of fast food options—from Burger King to Taco Bell—this Wendy’s location faced significant issues that led to its closure after a visit from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).

Wendy’s is a household name, and with 521 locations across Florida, it’s a familiar spot for those craving fast food. Known for its fresh, never-frozen square burgers, the chain has been a staple since it opened its doors in 1969. However, this particular Gainesville location has received mixed reviews, earning a 3.6-star rating on Google. While some customers had positive experiences, others were less than impressed.

The Inspection

On September 18, 2024, a DBPR inspection revealed 12 violations at the Wendy’s location. While some were minor, others raised more serious concerns. Basic violations included debris in the ware washing machine, debris on the floor and hood filters, and salt packets being improperly stored on the floor.
