Popular Ocala, Florida Chinese restaurant Great Wall cited for 9 violations in Marion County

Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, a go-to spot for classic dishes like General Tso’s chicken and lo mein in Ocala, maintains a strong 4.6-star rating from over 600 Google reviews despite recent inspection findings.

State records showed that an October 17, 2024, inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation revealed 9 violations, including two high-priority, one intermediate, and six basic violations. The restaurant remained open while addressing these concerns.

While the Marion County restaurant at 4901 E Sliver Spring Blvd Unit 702, wasn’t ordered to close, and it continued to operate as usual while addressing these issues, state records indicate that a follow-up inspection is necessary.

One of the high-priority violations involved unsuitable storage of raw animal food. According to the inspector’s note, raw chicken wings were found above ready-to-eat items in a reach-in cooler, as well as similar storage issues in the walk-in cooler and freezer.

The restaurant staff quickly corrected this on-site, but it was noted as a repeat violation.
