GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Shaun Demetrius Williams, 32, was arrested yesterday morning after allegedly throwing rocks at the windshield of a moving school bus.
At about 7:17 a.m. on November 14, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the parking lot near Pet Supermarket (2339 NW 13th Street), where another deputy reported that while waiting to turn into the parking lot from NW 13th Street, he saw Williams pick up rocks and throw them at a school bus that was pulling out of the parking lot. The deputy who saw the incident reportedly told Williams to get on the ground, and Williams allegedly did not comply but was taken into custody a short time later.
Two women, including the driver, were on the school bus during the incident, but no children were on the bus. Both women reportedly told the deputy that Williams started throwing rocks at the bus as they approached him. The driver told the deputy that she believed the rocks would break the windshield and hit her.
The responding deputy reported that the glass appeared to be chipped in the area where the bus driver said the rocks hit the windshield.
