After Aldi’s purchase of 400 Winn Dixie stores in 2023, the company said that it would be converting “around 50” of those Winn Dixie stores to Aldi in 2024. I’ve written about Winn Dixies in several cities like Tampa, Ocala, The Villages, Deltona, Ormond Beach, Pensacola, and Melbourne converting. And some readers have commented that they don’t welcome this change. As another conversion approaches – in Gainesville – some Floridians are signing petitions to oppose it.
About The Winn Dixie In Question: The Gainesville Winn Dixie (located at 300 SW 16th Avenue) is close to the University of Florida and Shands Hospital.
The store earns 4.1 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. Some love the store like Travis who wrote:
“I shop here because of the wide selection of produce that’s always fresh and the meat quality. Butchers are there through most of the day for any cut you don’t see on the shelf, and there’s always a good buy one get one deal in there – especially if you buy your meat in bulk and portion it yourself.”
