GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Rosa Perez De Perez, 45, was arrested last night after allegedly ramming a parked pickup truck in the Royal Park parking lot, pushing it into a second vehicle, and then leaving without providing any contact information for the victims. She reportedly said she thought her husband was in the truck.
At about 9:07 p.m. on December 3, Perez De Perez allegedly drove through empty parking spaces and hit an unoccupied pickup truck in the Royal Park parking lot (3702 Newberry Road). The truck reportedly hit an unoccupied sedan that was parked in the next space. Perez De Perez allegedly reversed and hit the pickup truck again but was then unable to extricate her car from the pickup truck, so she got out and walked to Cold Stone without leaving any contact information for the victims.
A witness told the responding Gainesville Police Department officer that he offered to help before Perez De Perez walked away.
Post Miranda, Perez De Perez reportedly said she thought her husband was inside the pickup truck and she intended to hit him. She said her husband got out of the vehicle and walked away, but the arresting officer reported that the investigation indicated that both vehicles were empty when Perez De Perez hit them.
