Florida Gators vault into top 10 recruiting classes after major flip from bitter rival

The Florida Gators are continuing on a recruiting heater and head coach Billy Napier is proving they did the right thing by keeping him.

After nearly flipping five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson earlier on National Signing Day, Napier did get a recruit to flip, this one from the University of Tennessee in four-star safety Lagonza Hayward.

The flip has vaulted the Gators into the top 10 of 247 Sports’ recruiting rankings at 10th, one spot ahead of Tennessee. 247 Sports has Hayward ranked as the 162nd overall prospect and the 13th-ranked safety in the 2025 recruiting class.

Adding Heyward brings the Gators class up to 24 commits with 22 of them having already signed. The Gators are still working on trying to flip a couple of recruits , including five-star interior offensive lineman Solomon Thomas.

If the Gators can get one or two more flips, it will set them up extremely well to be successful in the DJ Lagway era and beyond.
