More than 30 firefighters respond to large barn fire in Marion County

Several firefighter crews in Marion County responded to a large barn fire Tuesday morning.

Dispatchers received several 911 calls around 5:26 a.m. for reports of a large structure fire in the 24000 block of Southeast Highway 42 in Umatilla.

When fire crews arrived, they found a 5,000-square-foot commercial building 50% engulfed in flames.

Multiple units were called in to assist, and several explosions occurred due to propane tanks involved.

Firefighters worked aggressively to battle the blaze from a safe distance.

The fire was under control around 2 hours later.

A total of 32 firefighters and 7 suppression units responded to the scene to bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
