Recent inspections by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation have highlighted several issues in Alachua County restaurants that needed correcting. State records showed that over the past 30 days, 127 establishments underwent inspections, with 78 passing on their first visit and 49 requiring follow-up inspections to meet standards.
With an estimated population of 285,994 according to the United States Census Bureau 2023 data, Alachua County ranks as the 24th most populated county in Florida. This sizable population, along with visitors, means a considerable number of people dine out regularly.
Two restaurants in particular stood out for having the most violations. Tuptim Thai Restaurant & Sushi Bar and Beque Holic each received 25 violations during their inspections.
However, Tuptim Thai Restaurant & Sushi Bar, located at 1232 W University Ave in Gainesville, faced temporary closure after inspectors found six high-priority infractions on December 4, 2024. The restaurant required multiple follow-up inspections on December 5, 6, 7, and 9 before finally complying on December 16.
