Gainesville woman arrested after threatening ex-girlfriend with gun, chasing her car, and denting her hood

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Keona Lashay Thompson, 26, was arrested early this morning after allegedly threatening her ex-girlfriend with a gun, chasing her car, and denting her hood.

At about 2:50 a.m., a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a parking lot in the 2000 block of SW 34th Street, where the victim reportedly said Thompson had followed her in a vehicle; when she stopped, she said, Thompson got out of her vehicle and brandished a 9mm handgun, then hit the hood of the victim’s car with the gun, leaving a large dent. The victim said she managed to drive away, but Thompson chased her for a while before breaking off the chase.

The victim said Thompson had been “verbally hostile” toward her on social media for hours and that when Thompson got out of her car, she was in fear for her life and believed Thompson was trying to kill her. She said she also believed Thompson was trying to kill her when she chased her car.

The officer confirmed that there was a dent in the hood.
