Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Garrick Lee Lague, 35, was arrested yesterday after a traffic stop and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, drug possession, and possession of an ID belonging to a UF Health pediatrician.

At about 9:56 p.m. on December 27, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies saw an electric bike with no rear lights near the Days Inn on NW 69th Terrace; the bike also allegedly failed to stop at two stop signs.

After the deputies turned on their lights and siren, the bike reportedly continued for about 700 feet and turned from Newberry Road to NW 76th Boulevard, where the patrol car pulled in front of the bike and the second deputy got out of the patrol vehicle and stopped the bike.

The deputies determined that Lague had an active warrant for drug possession and arrested him. A search incident to arrest reportedly produced a bag containing a glass pipe, about 15.81 grams of methamphetamine (trafficking quantity), a .40 caliber handgun with seven rounds, an additional 88 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition, 26 sildenafil pills, a driver’s license belonging to someone else, a UF Health Pediatrician’s hospital ID, and two other identification cards belonging to other people.
