BELLEVIEW, Fla. (WFLA) — An off-duty paramedic is being hailed a hero after he saved a man who was trapped in a burning vehicle, Marion County Fire Rescue announced Monday.
Just after 7 a.m., fire rescue crews responded to reports of a vehicle crash near Exit 341 Northbound on I-75. On scene, crews found a vehicle had veered off the road, struck a tree, and then burst into flames.

The driver of the vehicle was reportedly stuck inside the car before the fire rescue’s arrival but was safely extracted by off-duty MCFR Critical Care Paramedic Stephen Cabrera.
Cabrera was reportedly on his way to work when he witnessed the incident and sprang into action. He opened the vehicle’s door, cut the airbags and seatbelt, and pulled the man to safety. Cabrera then provided lifesaving care until fire rescue arrived.
