Marion County, FL, restaurants with the most violations in the last 30 days (December 2024)

Marion County’s restaurant scene has seen its share of ups and downs in recent inspections with a few eateries highlighted for the wrong reasons. The Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation conducted 64 restaurant inspections in the county over the last 30 days. While 41 establishments passed on their first visit, 23 restaurants initially failed to meet standards, according to the Tallahassee Democrat reports.

This is What Happened During Recent Inspections

Before going deeper into the negative, on a positive note, 14 Marion County restaurants passed their first inspection without a single violation.

Now let’s get to the low points in the last 30 days.

As we wrap up December and 2024, three Marion County restaurants stood out with the most violations. State records show 10 eateries had double-digit infractions. Although none were ordered to close, several needed follow-up inspections.

Unfortunately, Jax Snappers in Ocala, a popular city in Marion County, stood mostly on the list with 41 violations during a December 6, 2024 inspection. The inspector found 11 high-priority violations, requiring a follow-up review. Despite addressing most issues, six remained on the last visit. Here is my report on this inspection.
