University of Florida organists past and present and musical enthusiasts will gather later this month to celebrate 100 years of the Andrew Anderson Memorial Pipe Organ at the University Auditorium.
The UF Pipe Organ Centennial celebration runs Jan. 23-26, but special events will be held throughout the year.
“It’s incredible that an organ has been maintained for 100 years at an institution,” said Laura Ellis, UF associate director and professor of music. “I love to hear and see the joy and excitement on students’ faces when they play the organ. Throughout history, there have been renovations, and I am thankful to my predecessor [Willis Bodine] to make it important enough to maintain it.”…
