First Alert Weather Forecast: Rain pouring down today with severe weather to our north tomorrow

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Showers and thunderstorms today over most of NCFL.

  • Sunday night: Showers and storms will eventually clear up, with cloud cover remaining. Expect early morning fog late tonight into Monday morning. Lows in the upper 60s.
  • Monday: Early morning fog leads to partial clearing by noon. Highs expected to reach into the 80s. Strong storms are very likely in the northern counties closer to the Georgia border. Rain chances remain low in Gainesville for Monday.
  • Extended: After rain chances on Monday are gone, hot weather is to be expected as high pressure builds into the area. Highs will reach into the 90s by Thursday.

NCFL: Monday severe weather chances are labeled an enhanced risk (3/5) just to our north at the Georgia border.

Further south, the chances for severe weather drop off to a slight risk for most of Columbia, Suwannee, and Lafayette counties. Strong thunderstorms are likely with hail chances also increased.

For Gainesville and most of our other counties, we sit at a marginal risk. I don’t expect thunderstorms to even reach this area as conditions will be much more unfavorable here…
