A convicted felon from Ocala who dropped a backpack containing a loaded pistol while fleeing from a traffic stop has been sentenced to four years in federal prison.
On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber sentenced Alan Ellis Gillespie, Jr., 32, to four years’ imprisonment for possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. Additionally, he was ordered by the court to forfeit the firearm and ammunition used in the offense.
