Four dogs rescued from fire in south Marion

Four dogs were rescued from a home in south Marion County that was destroyed by a large fire on Monday.

Marion County Fire Rescue units were called to the 9000 block of SE 140th Place in Summerfield on Monday, April 14, at around 10:04 a.m.

At the time, the 911 caller that reported the fire stated that there were flames and heavy smoke emanating from the home, and that there were four dogs trapped inside.

Upon arrival at the scene approximately three minutes later, MCFR units established command, deployed hose lines, and began a primary search of the structure. According to MCFR, firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to navigate through the smoke-filled home…
