After an hour of discussion and several residents expressing their concerns over a 73-home development proposed at a former landfill in southwest Ocala, Marion County officials denied a developer’s rezoning request for the site, saying it was “not in the public’s best interest.”
The Marion County Board of County Commissioners voted to deny the rezoning request from SW 60th Avenue, LLC, during its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 15. SW 60th Avenue, LLC is registered to Dr. Shahab Eunus, a local pediatrician and the founder of Premier Pediatrics. The company has been represented by Miles Anderson P.E. throughout the application process.
The property owner sought permission to rezone a 27.12-acre property located at 4805 SW 60th Avenue from general agriculture (A-1) to planned unit development (PUD) for the purposes of constructing a 73-home development called “Castlerock,” after the former landfill at the site…
