Former Ocala high school student sentenced for threatening schools and staff online

At age 18, Shomari Akeil Clarke was a junior at Forest High School with no criminal history.

On Jan. 19, 2024, Clarke was accused of threatening all Marion County high schools and some staff members via social media. Arrested the same day, Clarke was in court the next day at the county jail for his first appearance, where a judge set his bail at $200,000.

Now 19, a handcuffed Clarke, wearing a jail uniform, was in a different courtroom on April 25. This time, he was at the Marion County Judicial Center, ready to resolve his charges: multiple counts of electronic threats to kill or do bodily harm and one count each of unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate and disruption of a school function…
