Sheriff: Deputies confront reckless driver at his job after 3 weeks of chasing him

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A 24-year-old man accused of excessive speeding and reckless driving was arrested Thursday after three weeks of eluding deputies, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said deputies first spotted Alexander Thorn’s “excessive speeding” on his motorcycle during the week of March 31. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but said Thorn fled.

Thorn was seen by deputies again on April 4 “driving in a reckless manner, splitting lanes and driving between a vehicle and school bus,” the sheriff’s office said. Thorn was observed pulling into the Gainesville Nissan dealership, and a deputy took a picture of his motorcycle’s license plate in order to identify him…
