On Monday, June 2, 2025, Margaret Caitlin Walker was sentenced to eight years in prison for DUI Manslaughter in connection with the death of a University of Florida graduate student on November 27, 2022.
The incident occurred during nighttime hours on South Main Street, where Walker, driving a 2017 Volvo SUV, struck the victim riding a bicycle. Walker did not stop or report the crash and continued driving home. The victim was thrown into a wooded area by the force of the impact and died from his injuries.
