The Ocala Police Department is seeking an agreement with the Marion County School Board to get access to school cameras in times of emergency.
The agreement will be presented to the Ocala City Council during its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 1. The matter is included in the city’s consent agenda, which is enacted with one vote.
According to city staff, OPD is seeking access to “real-time video feeds and recorded video feeds” from schools’ surveillance cameras when “active circumstances” at a school or facility managed by the school board present an “immediate need for law enforcement and/or fire safety personnel to respond.”…
