Mother of five children arrested in family fracas over immigration fears

A mother of five children was arrested after a family fracas over immigration fears.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called Monday afternoon to the Paradise Mobile Home Park located on U.S. 301 in Summerfield where they arrested 31-year-old Lourdes Sucely Estrada Mendez De Perez on a charge of domestic battery.

She and her husband had been arguing about immigration when he attempted to call his father about the issue. She “became physical” and struggled to take the phone away from her husband. She left a scratch on his arm as a result of the altercation.

When deputies arrived on the scene, the husband pleaded with them not to arrest Estrada Mendez De Perez, who only speaks Spanish. He noted that they have five children in common…
