HAWTHORNE, Fla. (WCJB) – Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies say clearing a block party from a roadway in Hawthorne over the weekend cost them thousands of dollars.
On Saturday night, Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies say they believe more than a thousand people were crowding Holden Park Road following Hawthorne’s annual homecoming event, which ended at 8:00 p.m. Holden Park Road is just east of U.S. Highway 301.
“It was a great family environment. A lot of good food out there. I saw a lot of family and friends whom I haven’t seen in a while, and the parade was great,” shared resident JT Turner. “I believe the homecoming committee did a great job this year with everything. Everything went smoothly. There was no violence or nothing going on.”…
